MINISTRY FOCUS

Aviano Air Base is home to the 31st Fighter Wing. Nestled in between Venice and the Italian Alps, it is home to over 5000 active-duty service men and women, contractors, and military-connected families. The mission of the 31st is to deter through safe, secure, effective operations.

The Aviano Hospitality House was originally opened in 2001 by Kathy and Greg Siegfriedt-Wilson. Greg and Kathy served as the directors of the Naples, Italy house before being called to move north and open a new hospitality house. Their ministry in Aviano was tremendously successful as they faithfully ministered to many Airmen and families for over eight years before being called back to America to care for aging parents. Tracy and Karna had the privilege of serving alongside the Siegfriedt-Wilsons in both Naples and Aviano for 11 years, often ministering to many of the same Airmen and families in the type of unity that led to this new ministry partnership.

In the fall of 2022, Tracy and Karna reopened the Aviano Hospitality House, in the first-ever joint MOU between Youth For Christ Military and Cadence International. Their home is a safe haven from the storms of life for the military community serving on Aviano Air Base. The ministry includes fellowship and teaching for large groups, as well as discipleship for singles and young couples.

Tracy and Karna also minister through YFC to military youth in the community. YFC’s Campus Life Military helps military-connected youth become more resilient and provides them the opportunity to make informed decisions about Jesus Christ. The Steels are building on their eleven years of experience serving Aviano military families as they joyfully share the gospel and their lives with youth, men, women, and families through YFC and Cadence International.

Considering recent world events, the need has never been greater for military family ministry. The Steels are excited to build on their eleven years of experience serving Aviano military families as they share the gospel and their lives with youth, men, women, and families in Aviano.
