Places of Connection
I’ve tried at times to imagine how Joshua would have felt as he stood on the edge of the Promised Land with such a large task ahead of him. We get a glimpse into part of what he must have felt as the Lord told him to be strong and courageous, not to be frightened or dismayed, because God was with him! God’s presence with us as we encounter significant challenges in our lives brings so much peace and helps us move forward.
This is part of the reason we have a “Joshua Project” at Cadence every fall. These provide significant opportunities that we sense the Lord leading us to pursue, yet require greater measures of faith, prayer, and effort. It is as though we are standing on the edge of the Promised Land, aware of our great need for help from the Lord and listening to His words in Joshua 1.
This year, we are inviting our Cadence friends to help renew the Travis Hospitality House near Travis Air Force Base in California—a ministry that has served the military community for more than 50 years. It is here that Airmen and their families can slow down, share meals, form friendships, study God’s Word, and know they are not alone. The 2026 Joshua Project will help make the property even more useful for that calling through a covered outdoor gathering space, a dedicated children’s area, a renewed low-maintenance pergola, and a sand volleyball court.
These improvements are not simply investments in buildings or recreation. They create room for a child to play safely, a parent to relax, a new Airman to find friendship, and a family to encounter the hope of Jesus in community. They help the Hospitality House say, “You are welcome here. You belong here. You are not alone.”
Would you pray for Aaron and Erin Brackett who lead this ministry, for the military families they serve, and for God to provide for this project? As always, we are grateful for your prayerful and financial partnership in sharing the gospel and our lives. If you would like to make a special gift to the Joshua Project, you may do so here.
Together, for Jesus.
