MINISTRY FOCUS
The Airmen’s Refuge at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, opened in October 2026. Directors Bob and Glenda Ball offer a “home-away-from-home” style of ministry. Through discipleship, teaching, mentoring, and fellowship, they reach out to airmen and their families with the love and message of Christ and His salvation. They also support the chapel and chaplains on base in various ways.
Cannon AFB maintains a high operational tempo with airmen frequently cycling through deployments worldwide. A variety of special operations aircraft are stationed at Cannon, including the AC-130J Ghostrider, MC-130J Commando II, MQ-9 Reaper, CV-22 Osprey, and U-28 Draco. The host unit at Cannon is the 27th Special Operations Wing (27 SOW), also known as “The Steadfast Line.” It is under the jurisdiction of Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).
The Airmen’s Refuge Hospitality House hosts a Friday hospitality night, primarily for single airmen and young couples. It begins at 1800 and includes a home-cooked meal, followed by Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. They also welcome the military community for holiday meals and provide a place to stay for visiting family members of airmen.
