MINISTRY FOCUS

Cadence’s youth ministry on Camp Foster occurs inside a space affectionally known as the “Refuge Cafe.”

The Refuge Cafe has been serving up coffee and fellowship for over a decade on Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan. Located inside Building 5950, the cafe’s cozy setting is an ideal spot for groups to gather and discuss God’s Word over a cup of coffee.

Currently, the Refuge Cafe serves as a ministry hub for youth, active-duty, and men’s and women’s groups. Not only is it a great place to host routine gatherings, but it also provides an ideal space for smaller-scale discipleship meetings with individuals. At the center of every ministry taking place is the same desire: that those who participate in a ministry at the Refuge Cafe would be encouraged in fellowship and equipped to study and share the goodness of God’s Word.

Each week in the Refuge Cafe, high school and middle school students from nearby Kubasaki High School and Lester Middle School gather for a Bible study. In addition, there are women’s ministries, a men’s study, a fellowship time for active-duty personnel, and numerous large-scale events (such as game nights, celebrations, watch parties, and more).
