MINISTRY FOCUS

Mitchell and Valerie minister primarily to single or unaccompanied Marines and sailors stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma.  They aim to share the gospel and their lives with the service members stationed in Yuma, Arizona. Mitchell and Valerie offer a reprieve from the operational tempo and desert heat by studying the Word and serving home-cooked dinners and cool drinks to active-duty service members. The Ajsenbergs often take their ministry and fellowship outdoors, by offering camping trips, hikes, days spent at the lakes around Yuma or on the Colorado River, and explorations of the nearby wildlife refuges.

FAITH

Mitchell grew up culturally Jewish but came to faith in Jesus Christ while on Marine Corps recruiting duty in Muskegon, Michigan, in the winter of 2013. His faith journey began then, and through discipleship and the power of the Holy Spirit, he has never looked back.

Valerie grew up Catholic and always had an awareness of God and Jesus in her life. In college, through Bible studies and discipleship, she decided to continue her faith journey in the non-denominational Christian community.

FAMILY

Mitchell grew up in Yuma, Arizona, and joined the Marine Corps at 17. After traveling and living all around the world during his 20 years of active-duty service, his last duty station before retirement brought him full circle back home to Yuma, where he and his family currently reside.

Valerie grew up near Quantico, Virginia. Her college years took her to upstate New York and Tennessee before she landed in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Mitchell. They moved to Yuma on active-duty orders in the summer of 2023. Mitchell has a daughter, Melody, from a previous marriage. Mitchell and Valerie welcomed their son, Michael, in October 2024, and their daughter, Hannah, in July 2026
