MINISTRY FOCUS
Mike and Lauren have always enjoyed opening their home and sharing a meal with others. They are eager to continue this tradition on the mission field, serving those who live a life of service. Jesus’s life and works invite us to pull up a chair and join the great banquet feast. Mike and Lauren look forward to going together, led by the Holy Spirit, to be Christ’s witnesses to the ends of the earth.
FAITH
At an early age, Mike learned that he lived in a broken world and that sinners need a Savior. He was forever changed by this basic truth in sixth grade. After that point, asking for forgiveness has been an integral part of his life.
While Lauren was raised going to church, her life was profoundly changed in college when she began actively walking with Jesus for the first time. Despite the appearance of fun and adventure in the party scene, she was overcome by the joy and exuberance that is only found in life with her Savior. She has learned that nothing in this world can satisfy her like Jesus; that a John 10:10 life is not only possible but rewarding beyond her wildest dreams!
FAMILY
Mike grew up in a family of seven in central Pennsylvania and later moved to the Philadelphia suburbs. Having two brothers and two sisters allowed him to see the power of family, food, fellowship, faith, and football. These aspects are still central to his life today, and he enjoys them with his extended family and friends. He especially cherishes helping his wife see the importance of the fifth “F”: football!
Lauren grew up in a family of five in North Carolina. She is the oldest of three children and has two younger brothers. Her youngest brother served in the Army and has been a great inspiration for her desire to serve military members. As an adult, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she met Mike. Since then, they have made many friends who have become like family, as many service members seeking genuine community are stationed in the D.C. area.
Together, Mike and Lauren have also hosted high school foreign exchange students. Their Italian exchange son Pietro, and German exchange daughter Lena will always be considered part of the family. Opening their home has been one of the most beautiful ways they have seen God expand their hearts for hospitality and the world.
