MINISTRY FOCUS

Matt and Kiah Devillier are excited to share the gospel and their lives with the medical trainees at Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston, serving alongside full-time Cadence staff Kevin and Sharon Scheible, who started Alamo City Cadence Community in 2024. They lovingly offer a space for connection and community through Cadence Community Nights at the chapel, Military Reboot Trauma Recovery courses, and social gatherings on base to accommodate many of the medical trainees’ off-base limitations and restrictions. Graduating trainees who prepare to leave for their next duty station are also warmly connected to another Christian military community for their next assignment. Matt and Kiah are passionate about spiritual growth, discipleship, and cultivating a community that feels like family.

FAITH

Matt grew up with some knowledge of Jesus, but he first heard the gospel and found true faith in Christ through the hospitality of a friend’s family, as they welcomed him into their home and invited him to attend church. Matt joined the Navy after high school but spent the next few years wandering spiritually without a strong biblical community. It wasn’t until he gave up his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL that God showed him what biblical community was and how to get serious about following Christ. Matt joined a Bible study at the Bridge Hospitality House in Coronado, California, where he grew in his relationship with the Lord and was baptized. After being sent by the Navy to Virginia, he was discipled, served in a young adults’ military ministry, and met his beautiful bride, Kiah. Throughout Matt’s life, his faith has been shaped largely by the hospitality of faithful believers who open their homes for discipleship and community. Matt desires to minister to others in the same powerful way that others’ hospitality impacted him.

Kiah was blessed to grow up in a Christian home. She came to saving faith at 13 and sought to find a community which would help her grow. Through being discipled in college, Kiah learned about the importance of accountability and how to mature in her walk with Christ. The Lord provided a thriving Christian community at her first duty station in the Navy, which inspired her to live with a Christ-centered purpose. Kiah desires to create spaces for others to deepen their relationship with Christ and learn alongside other believers.

FAMILY

Matt and Kiah both grew up in small towns and truly appreciate the value of a close community. Matt is from Texas, and Kiah is from Colorado. They met at their local church in 2021 when their Young Adults Pastor introduced them, believing they were a good fit. In 2022, Matt and Kiah got married in Colorado and then headed to California, where Kiah finished her time in the service. They are blessed with a sweet baby girl, Lacie Mae, born in 2026. The Devilliers enjoy doing things together as a family, whether that is playing games, sharing meals, watching sports, exploring God’s creation, or having Christ-centered conversations with other believers.
