MINISTRY FOCUS

Kara felt the Lord inviting her to serve with Cadence, and she is thrilled to soon share the gospel and her life with military teens, wherever she is sent. Kara grew up as a Cadence Kid and is familiar with the hardships TCK (Third Culture Kid) life can sometimes bring. She loves building community, inviting people to be known, craves deep connections, and truly desires for others to experience the deep love of Jesus. Kara’s hope is to encourage, equip, and invite students and their families to deepen their relationship with Jesus as they learn what it looks like to take the next step in trusting Him.

FAITH

For as long as Kara can remember, she has believed in the saving grace of Jesus and has loved learning about Him in the Bible. Her parents, Sunday School teachers, youth pastors, and many others have invested in Kara’s life and spiritual walk with God, encouraging her to make her faith her own. When Kara was in middle school, her youth group went to a camp where the gospel was presented in a way that finally made sense to her. She realized that she truly was a sinner who had been saved by Jesus and was in awe that God would desire a relationship with her. Ever since, Kara has pursued a deeper, more personal knowledge of God through His written Word and the body of Christ and has developed a deep trust in Jesus as she continues to grow and walk with Him.

FAMILY

Kara is the daughter of Nate and Louise Johnson and has grown up in Cadence. She is the second of four children in her family (plus a brother-in-law and an adorable nephew who joined the picture more recently). The Johnsons have served with Cadence International doing both Student Ministry and Hospitality House Ministry since 1999 in Germany, Japan, Spain, California, and Colorado. Kara and her family loved ministering side by side as a family unit and are excited to see the ways God continues to grow them individually in this new season of life.
