MINISTRY FOCUS

Jose and Susan have served in various of ministries over the past 25 years. As Army veterans, their family has fond memories of Cadence houses in Europe and the U.S. They have a heart for service members, as they have first-hand knowledge of military life. Following their retirement from the Army, the Arguetas have served as disaster relief volunteers across the country. Their desire for missions has led to opportunities to serve abroad in Greece, Vietnam, Mexico, and the Philippines. Meeting new people and interacting in cross-cultural contexts is a gratifying experience for them. They desire to encourage military families to develop deeper relationships with the Lord, leading to greater impact for Christ in the communities where they live.

FAITH

Jose and Susan met as adults in southern California and married just prior to Susan’s assessing to active duty. Neither one grew up in a family with a Christian background or had relationships with Christians. After the birth of their eldest son, God placed upon Jose’s heart a desire to seek the Lord. While visiting a church near Fort Hood, both Jose and Susan answered the same altar call and gave their lives to Christ. Their faith journey has developed since that time, as they have sought God and served Him in chapels as they moved to new locations.

FAMILY

The Arguetas married in 1992. Their two sons had the privilege of growing up in military communities and experiencing new people and places. Now adults, Alec is an infantry officer, and Aaron is transitioning into the Air Force. Jose and Susan hope to provide encouragement and stability for military service members and families in their walks with the Lord, just as they experienced in hospitality houses during their years in the Army.
