MINISTRY FOCUS

Dalton Kalas is in the process of applying to be a full-time missionary with Cadence International. He will go through a week of Candidacy, seeking God’s continued confirmation to serve with Cadence.

Dalton was introduced to Cadence while serving as an active-duty Soldier in the Army. He now has the privilege of ministering to the military community at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Hospitality House. Here, Dalton leads men’s ministry by facilitating and teaching the men’s group, discipling men individually, and planning events that enable the men to grow closer to each other and Christ. Dalton is also on rotation to give the sermon that follows dinner every Friday night at the Cadence House. During this time, service members, both men and women, can relax after a long week and hear about Jesus. Dalton also regularly participates in and helps plan events for the entire group that often involve exploring some part of the Pacific Northwest. Dalton and his wife Kayti serve the military by opening their home for dinner, movie nights, or small group study. Dalton’s prayer is that God will use all these things to glorify Himself in the lives of service members and that, in turn, they will take the gospel to their coworkers.

FAITH

Dalton came to faith in Christ when he was six years old after his teacher at a Christian school taught him what it means to be saved. He grew in his faith, but it was not until his college years that he took the opportunity to pursue Christ in a more personal way. Dalton struggled with various aspects of his faith as he navigated some trials during those years and post-graduation, but the Lord graciously grew in him an even stronger faith. Since joining the military and being introduced to Cadence, Dalton has been given opportunities to share and exercise his faith, further deepening his relationship with Christ.

FAMILY

Dalton and Kayti were married on October 2, 2021. They do not have kids yet but do have one dog, Gelati, whom they consider family. Dalton, his younger brother, and his parents have lived in Wyoming and, most recently, Michigan. Dalton considers Michigan to be his home, and this is where his parents still live. Kayti grew up as a military kid, moving to many places in the States as well as Italy for two years. She considers North Carolina to be home, which is where her parents live. Kayti’s older sister is stationed at JBLM with her husband, who is in the Army. Having them close has been a blessing to Kayti and Dalton. Dalton’s brother recently moved from Michigan to Round Rock, Texas, to start his career in finance.
