MINISTRY FOCUS

In fall of 2023, Duncan & Suzanne stepped in as House Directors of The Lighthouse in Yokosuka, Japan. They are enthusiastically carrying on the rich heritage of ministry at this location. Cadence International has been ministering to the military in Yokosuka, Japan since 1969. The current Lighthouse building was dedicated in 1994.

The Forbes work alongside the military chaplains and maintain an open-door, home-away-from-home style of ministry to reach many for Christ through meals, Bible studies, discipleship training, activities, and more. They strive to offer sustainable community, interpersonal discipleship, and a life-giving mission bigger than a single individual.

Focusing on the young adults stationed here, they also welcome families to the weekly dinners and Bible study gatherings that are hosted each week at The Lighthouse to provide intergenerational fellowship.

Additionally, bi-monthly Men’s Breakfasts and Film Theology nights are a regular offering. Weekends often involve day trips to historic or cultural sites in the surrounding area.
