MINISTRY FOCUS

Cathy and Brian have been ministering at Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk) for just over a year now. The Hutchens welcome Soldiers and their families into their noisy, joyful, home as a place where the Lord is lifted high and growth in Christlikeness is a continual goal.

Fort Johnson is a tough Army assignment. It has a small population with approximately 8,000 active-duty Soldiers stationed there. It is located near Leesville, a small town in rural Louisiana. It is not considered a “choice” assignment by many. We believe that the gospel of Christ, discipleship, and Christian community are greatly needed by those assigned to this isolated Army installation.

Brian and Cathy are seeing young families and singles grow in Christ. They also are heavily invested in the chapel community serving with VBS, Protestant Women of the Chapel, Men of the Anvil, and other ministry opportunities and events. They seek to serve where needed and bring a greater sense of Christian community.

Brian and Cathy offer:

  • Weekly gatherings for teaching, including men’s and women’s Bible studies
  • Regular outreach to the local community
  • Fun recreational events
  • Outdoor ministry activities specifically geared to minister to chaplains
