Over 60 years ago, five young sailors pooled their resources and each donated $1,000 to purchase a facility near Yokosuka Naval Station. They had a dream of seeing a Christian alternative to the bars and brothels that dominated the landscape outside Yokosuka’s front gate.

Over the years, Cadence was asked to staff the thriving ministry. Eventually the property was sold for millions of dollars and an amazing new facility was built known as the Lighthouse.

Those five sailors never imagined how their initial sacrifice would become a significant financial investment for a new facility — providing a warm room, a home-cooked meal, Bible studies, discipleship, and so much more to thousands of military men, women, and their families.
