The Hansen Christian Center in Okinawa, Japan, was established by Cadence in 1969 and is currently staffed by Darrow and Vicki Frazier, who have sacrificially served there for over ten years. HCC—or as the Marines call it, “The House”—is within walking distance of Camp Hansen. Marines stationed at Camp Hansen are predominantly single and unaccompanied (married with families left behind in the States).
The Hansen Christian Center provides a much-needed home away from home for 50-60 Marines each week. The Fraziers provide hospitality and encourage gospel-centered relationships through recreational activities, one-on-one discipleship, Bible studies, and mentoring.
Many structural challenges arise when an over-50-year-old building is located in a hot and humid climate. The HCC is made of concrete and built to survive the many typhoons that visit the island. Constant repairs are required to maintain the waterproofing needed in such a moist environment. The doors and windows are old and need replacement. Fixing these would also help lower the electrical bills.
We are asking God and our ministry partners for $65,000 for doors, windows, and plumbing. While these are our priority projects, as the list on this page shows, there are others that also need attention. Join in the fruitful and continuing ministry of Hansen Christian Center through your gifts and prayers so that many more military people may be reached and discipled for years to come.
If you’d like to hear an interview with Darrow and Vicki Frazier, check out the InCadence podcast dated September 1, 2025, titled The Cadence Way—We Stay.
