DESCRIPTION

The Burundi Wounded Soldier Ministry exists to share the gospel and our lives through holistic ministry to wounded Soldiers in Burundi. These Soldiers were wounded during their military service and now live in an isolated housing area without a road to access their village. Our Burundian ministry partner, Kiki, shares the love of Christ with this community by leading them spiritually, providing for their physical needs, and helping them pursue economic opportunities for financial sustainability.

We have four core values: Local, Presence, Consistency, and Together. We believe ministry can thrive when it is led by a Local leader who is Present in the community on a Consistent basis doing ministry Together with the soldiers and other ministry partners.

We are building a sustainable ministry partnership that is funded through monthly sponsorship in the community of Mpanda, for the benefit of the wounded soldiers and their families who live there.

Tour du Burundi 2022

Thanks for considering how you can partner with me, Brian Kleager, and four other friends as we undertake a seven-day bike ride in Burundi from May 27 to June 3, 2022, with the goal of raising $30,000 for two strategic ministries in Burundi. This African country is one of the poorest countries in the world, if not the poorest. The ministries for which we are raising money serve people who are disabled, widowed, orphaned, impoverished, and malnourished. They all have great needs.

My ministry partner Duncan Sprague and I have strong relationships with the leaders of both these ministries, have been to these villages numerous times, and continue to visit the people whom your giving will directly impact.

The Cadence Mpanda Wounded Soldier Ministry helps Soldiers who have been wounded in conflicts. These Soldiers and their families live on an isolated hill in the countryside with very few resources to live on. Our national partner Kiki visits them regularly and cares for their holistic needs. (See the full ministry description on the left side of this page.)

I am also biking to raise money for Igniting Communities for Jesus (ICJ), which is led by Jean Bosco Mutebutsi. ICJ reaches out to some of the most remote and vulnerable communities across Northern Burundi. During the civil war, rebels camped out in the forests in these areas and carried out frequent raids. Many villagers were tragically killed, and today there are a significant number of maimed adults, orphans, and widows struggling to rebuild their lives. Working with local leaders, ICJ provides holistic support to individuals and communities.

I believe in these ministries so much that I’m willing to be away from my family for two weeks to ride for seven days, an average of 70 miles and 7,000 feet of climbing per day, in the heat of Burundi! (Once we get up into the hills, we should get some early morning relief from the blistering temperatures). I invite you to give generously, and I thank you in advance! To donate, you can click on the Give Now button above. Click here to follow and “like” us on Facebook.

Please pray for us! Pray for God to be glorified in every aspect of this event, for our faith to be strengthened by His presence, for the ministries we are serving, for safety on the ride (including our Burundi drivers, riding down big hills, no wrecks, etc.), and for all the logistics (travel, bikes to arrive, no flats, no mechanical problems, etc.).

Thank you so much!
Brian
