MINISTRY FOCUS

John and Marcie lead Home Port’s gathering for dinner, worship, Bible study, and fellowship on Friday evenings. They also host a men’s time on Monday evenings, which includes outdoor grilling, studying the Word, and fellowshipping together. As well, they host special holiday events and outings for families and singles. Personal and individual discipleship is an important part of their ministry.

FAITH

Marcie came to faith in Christ at age six, when it was made clear only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Acts 26:16-18; Revelation 13:8, 20:15) by faith in Jesus Christ are forgiven their sins and granted eternal life. John came to faith much later at age 20 when an evangelist from Athletes in Action, shared the gospel in a form John could understand and act upon—making it clear that John’s works could never merit anything. Both Marcie and John acted upon what they heard and understood by calling on the Lord to forgive and save them (Luke 13:5; Romans 10:13). As John and Marcie continued to mature in Christ, through ministries like Cadence and the love expressed in those settings and through their local church, they continued to bear more and more fruit that evidenced their faith was real.

FAMILY

John and Marcie Good were first introduced to each other, and Cadence, at Kadena Air Base as lieutenants in 1983. They were married in 1988 and have one daughter, who lives with her husband in Aubrey, Texas, and one son who lives in West Hollywood, California. Marcie served in the Air Force as an intelligence officer for more than seven years, and then resigned her commission to later raise and home-school their children. For more than 26 years, John served in the Air Force as a navigator, and later as a pilot. Prior to joining Cadence, Marcie completed more than nine years with the Transportation Security Administration and John completed more than 12 years with the Air Force in civil service.
