MINISTRY FOCUS

Since 1977, Cadence has had a presence in the Baumholder Military Community. The current hospitality house, called The Festaburg, opened in 1982, and the ministry has continued ever since. Over the years, the focus of the ministry has changed as the population of the Army post there has changed. Soldiers and families always receive a warm welcome when they walk through the doors of The Festaburg.

Baumholder Army Post, which includes Smith Barracks and Wetzel housing, is a relatively small Army installation about 45 minutes away from the much larger Kaiserslautern Military Community. The area is semi-rural with lots of rolling hills and grain fields. The Army post houses several sustainment units. The Soldiers at Baumholder frequently deploy as they support other military efforts throughout Europe.

At The Festaburg, they host weekly dinners and Bible study gatherings. Weekends often involve day trips to historic or cultural sites in the surrounding area. Robin leads a weekly Men’s Bible study, and Linda participates in Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC) on post.
