Get Involved

“Never doubt in the dark what God has shown you to be true in the light.”

Dick Patty, Cadence Founder

We stay connected with our Alumni through online communications, support, and service opportunities.

Video: What Lingers
What Lingers is a video blog created by our Alumni Pastor, Duncan Sprague. “When I consider my first thought about almost anything,” he says, “I quickly realize that my first thought is often under-informed, overly critical, and too preoccupied with what’s in it for me. But given a second thought, I often find a better nature and truer self, the divine nature and new heart that beats most passionately for God rather than myself.”

We invite you to take a second thought about important questions that survive the ups and downs of life, forcing us to ask a better question, “What lingers?”

Devotional: Sunrise Promises

The “Sunrise” booklet is designed to encourage Christian seniors particularly those in assisted living places, nursing homes, foster care circumstances, etc., experiencing the difficulties that come with aging and very much in need of looking ahead to the joyful prospects of their arrival in heaven. Though such places often make a serious effort to bring a bit of sunshine into the lives of those in their care—in part, it is to keep people from thinking about the prospects of what lies ahead. I’m convinced that elderly Christians should be getting excited about their “far better” future! As Paul wrote, “If we have hope only in this life, we are most to be pitied.” Our Christian hope is a fabulous thing! Elderly people need to treasure their hope.

From the author: For Christians who will be living at the time of Christ’s great Return (commonly called The Rapture), the promise of 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (also John 14:3) will be especially treasured. “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God . . . Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet with the Lord in the air and so we shall always be with the Lord.” Unless the Lord’s Coming is very soon, since probably many of us will have already arrived in heaven before that time, we will be there with him when he comes in glory. — David C. Needham (age 92)
