Hurricane Perkins

Welcome Adventures in Odyssey Club Members!

What did you think about the Hurricane Perkins episode? Does it make you wonder what it would be like to be a military kid?

We think military kids are great! They are usually quick to make friends, like Wyatt and Darcy, but they also have to say “see you later” to many of their friends as they move about every three years. And that can make it hard for military kids. Like Bridget said in this episode, “I saved myself the heartache and stopped making friends.” Darcy gave an important encouragement to Bridget near the end of the story.

What did you think about the hospitality house? Many of our military friends call the hospitality house a “home away from home.” It’s a real house where a Cadence family has opened their hearts and their home to military people and their families. Regular events are scheduled—meals, Bible studies, game nights, adventures, and more. We think it’s an honor to be part of ministry to the military.

God bless you!
Cadence International

Please pray for military kids and their families. Pray for whatever fears they are facing in these days. Pray for good friends for them. Know that we have asked God to help you in your friendships too, whether they involve military people or not.

Are you a military kid? Were your folks ever involved in a Cadence hospitality house near their duty station or a Cadence youth group when they were young? If they were, we call them “Cadence Alumni.” Let them know we’d like to connect with them on our Alumni page.

We also invite you to learn more about Cadence by exploring our website. With your parent’s permission, you are welcome to email us with questions at Info@Cadence.org.

As a twelve-year-old, I wasn’t sure about leaving the United States and going to live far away from everything I knew, but God knew this particular move would change our family forever. I remember watching my father soon after we arrived, as he became completely sold out for Christ. Everyone in our family followed Him. My parents became very involved in the chapel we attended and the hospitality house that was in a neighboring town.”
