Missionary Adult Ministry Serving in Kadena Air Base, Okinawa Japan◄ Back to Missionaries
We are currently serving as directors for The Harbor, a hospitality house near Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan. We have been here since April 19, 2014. God has uniquely wired both of us to have hearts for military families. Rebecca grew up a second-generation Army kid and experienced first-hand Cadence Hospitality House ministry (her grandparents were House directors) for four years while her family lived in Germany. Currently her two brothers and serving in the Army. While attending college, Deric felt led to Army chaplaincy and pursued that goal for the next several years. We met while attending Denver Seminary and were married in June 2008. Shortly after graduation, we moved to Alamosa, CO, to serve on staff at a church, while Deric served as a chaplain in the Army Reserves. He deployed to Afghanistan for a year, so we understand some of the hardships that military families experience! Since we’ve been married, God has confirmed our calling to military ministry. After Deric returned home from deployment, we were even more convinced. In the fall of 2012 we began to pray about serving with Cadence as Hospitality House directors. Over several months, God ordered our steps and provided clarity and confirmation that Cadence is where He wants us to serve. In June 2013, we were thrilled to be appointed as Cadence missionaries! We are very excited to use our gifts, skills, talents, and backgrounds to join in God’s ministry to military personnel and families through Cadence International. Will you prayerfully consider joining with us in this important ministry?
