Every month, David Schroeder, President of Cadence International, writes a letter to donors. These letters illustrate the heartbeat of the mission and share stories of God's faithfulness. We hope that you are encouraged as you read his reflections.

God’s Faithfulness

In the midst of this pandemic when ministry to the military is changed, difficult, and seems more limited, let us all be encouraged by the faithfulness of God and the lasting work He has done and is doing in people’s lives.

Sharon and Kevin Scheible

The following letter to Cadence Student Ministry staff Kevin and Sharon Scheible, now serving in Rota, Spain, is this kind of encouragement:

Dear Kevin and Sharon,

I was one of your youth kids when you were stationed in Ramstein, Germany.

Anyways, the reason I am writing is to say thank you. You both poured into me so much, and I would not be where I am now without the love of Christ that you both showed me every Tuesday night. I am a sophomore at Texas A&M and my family lives in College Station, Texas. I attend a church in the area, and they have a weekly women’s Bible study for college students.

Last night our Bible study leader told us that sometime this week we should contact and say thank you to a person that played a major role in our walk with Christ. I chose you two. I just wanted to thank you both for what you gave up in order to continue God’s kingdom and love on kids that weren’t even your own. You both loved on me through my dad’s deployment and encouraged my siblings and me to never stop pursuing Christ. You both have such a gift when it comes to creating a safe environment where youth can be vulnerable. When my mom took me out of school my ninth-grade year because of bullying, the youth group was where I found community.

I am now a Bible study leader at my church for the tenth-grade girls. It is the best decision I ever made, but it is also one of the most emotionally and spiritually draining things I have ever done. The girls that I teach have my heart completely, and I so desperately want them to fall in love with Christ. I have faith that God will help them grow with time. It has made me appreciate the type of heart it takes to love on youth. You two must have a crazy amount of love in your hearts to have loved me, my brother, and everyone in our youth group so intensely. I can’t even begin to fully express how grateful I am for that.

I hope this encourages you as you love and serve those around you. Thank you for partnering with us, and thank you for praying for our staff and their ministries during these challenging days.
