Remembering Tom Hash
On Tuesday morning, December 29, 2009, after a year of battling cancer, Tom Hash went peacefully to be with Jesus.  His last words were, “I love you,” spoken to his wife Dotty, his companion, friend, soul-mate, and teammate of 54 years.

While the above list summarizes Tom and Dotty’s ministry with OCSC/Cadence, it in no way captures the wonderful legacy of love left behind by Tom, and which continues in the life of Dotty.

At Tom’s memorial services in Texas and Colorado, powerful and tearful testimonies were shared by many whose lives had been deeply touched by Tom’s. Words that were most repeated to describe Tom’s life included:  kind, gentle, wise, caring, and peaceful. In his gracious way, Tom deeply encouraged countless lives, one at a time.

One of Tom’s life-long friends and a fellow founder of OCSC/Cadence International, Dick Patty, read these appropriate words at the Colorado memorial service from James 3:17-18, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

This Scripture aptly describes the character and life of Tom Hash. His “harvest of righteousness” continues to bear fruit in his family, friends, the mission, the military, and in a ripple effect around the world.

A memorial fund has been set up in Tom’s name and honor.  You may direct your kindness towards two ministries that were important to Tom and exemplify the life that he lived:  a new training effort among young pastors in Poland with Josiah Venture, and the beginning of a pioneering effort with Cadence. These two special projects embody Tom's life and ministry.

Simply assign your gift to Cadence International, send it to PO Box 1268, Englewood CO  80150, and send a separate note indicating it is for "The Tom Hash Memorial Fund."  Cadence will then direct those funds to both of these worthy efforts.  You may also give online by credit card. Under "Missionary or Project" select "Tom Hash Memorial."

In honor of Tom,

David Schroeder
President
